Welcome to Winelands Cape Town. A stay in this historic Sir Herbert Baker cottage is one of luxurious and idyllic relaxation. The cottage and surroundings are steeped in rich South African history and offer a range of activities to enjoy in the heart of the most beautiful Winelands.
Located on the Boschendal wine estate, a popular wine and food destination where Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl meet, this cottage is ideally placed for exploring all that the area has to offer or simply experiencing the diversity of the estate itself.
Savour the best of farm living on this superb estate with access to wine tasting, vineyard and cellar tours, restaurants, the manor house, the farm deli and the immaculate award-winning gardens.
Guests are also able to enjoy facilities that are for the exclusive use of those overnighting on the farm. These include the farm spa for pampering, exploring the nature reserve and mountain paths, as well as mountain bike, nature and heritage trails. They can swim in the mountain stream, fish in the dams, or run along fynbos paths.
Cecil John cottage is only 2km from the main farm Werf where many of the facilities are located. There are a spacious main house and charming garden annex where you can relax and take in the majestic scenery. The main house has three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a Queen size bed and shares a bathroom with the second bedroom. This room has twin beds and is accessed through the master bedroom so is well suited to a family.
The Butlers Room, with a separate courtyard entrance, is the third bedroom with either a King or twin beds. The bathhouse is situated across the open courtyard. The garden annex has a further two en-suite bedrooms with either King-size or twin beds upon request.
There is a fully equipped kitchen in both the main house and annex. A large verandah, outside dining under the oaks and an eco-friendly swimming pool add to the relaxed feel of the property. There is a wood burning fireplace to create a cosy atmosphere during the cooler months, and air-conditioning for warmer weather. A trout fishing dam and fishing equipment, boule, croquet and 2 bicycles add to the enjoyment of a stay in this cottage. Breakfast is cooked and served at the cottage each morning by the housekeeper.
